Kenya: dramatic wildlife conservancies, pristine Indian Ocean coastline, and exclusive private estates offering safari and beach experiences at the highest level.
Kenya is one of Africa’s most established luxury destinations, with two distinct offerings. The Laikipia region (north of Nairobi, at the foot of Mount Kenya) hosts a collection of world-class private conservancies with exceptional wildlife, exclusive-use lodges and houses, and some of the continent’s most sophisticated safari experiences. The Indian Ocean coast (particularly Malindi and Kilifi, north of Mombasa) offers elegant beach houses on white-sand beaches with turquoise water, Swahili cultural heritage, and a relaxed, understated atmosphere far removed from mainstream tourism.
We work with a small number of properties in both regions. In Laikipia, we represent exclusive-use houses within Borana Conservancy and neighbouring private estates: contemporary architecture, dramatic views across open plains to Mount Kenya, dedicated staff, and full access to game drives, walking safaris, and conservation programmes. On the coast, our selection includes beachfront houses in Malindi and Kilifi with private access, infinity pools, and household teams trained to a high standard.
The appeal is compelling: Kenya offers authenticity, scale, and among the strongest wildlife experiences outside southern Africa. The Laikipia conservancies are among the best-managed in Africa, with thriving populations of elephant, lion, rhino, and plains game, plus exceptional guiding. The properties themselves are architecturally striking and genuinely luxurious. The coast provides an elegant counterpoint: warm water year-round, excellent diving and snorkelling, and a slower, more intimate pace than Zanzibar or the Seychelles. It’s ideal for clients seeking immersion, wildlife, and the option to combine safari with beach in a single trip.
The trade-offs: Kenya requires commitment: flights from Europe are 8 to 9 hours, and internal connections (particularly to Laikipia) add time. The long rains (March through May) can disrupt travel and reduce wildlife visibility. Infrastructure outside top properties is inconsistent, and service standards vary widely. Security considerations exist in Nairobi and certain regions; we advise private transfers and staying within vetted conservancies and estates. The coast, while beautiful, lacks the resort infrastructure of the Caribbean or Indian Ocean islands, and medical facilities are limited. Malaria prophylaxis is required for coastal areas.
Kenya works best for clients prioritising authenticity, wildlife, and immersion over polish and convenience. For the right brief (particularly multi-generational families or groups seeking a transformative experience) it delivers something genuinely extraordinary.
We also support acquisition advisory for clients considering property investment in Kenya’s conservancy and coastal markets, with full attention to land tenure, legal structures, and discretion.
Next step: If Kenya aligns with your brief, share your dates, party composition, preferred focus (safari only, beach only, or combined itinerary), and any specific requirements (wildlife priorities, diving, family composition, accessibility needs, etc.) and we’ll send a shortlist within 24 hours.
