Set in tropical gardens dotted with trees, Beach House is a private family home overlooking the Indian Ocean from a cliff top in Kilifi. Designed to capture the gentle breeze as it rolls in from the ocean, its interiors and styling are infused with the flavours of the Kenyan coast.
The main house is arranged around a beautiful open veranda, the sweeping view of the infinity pool and the sparkling ocean beyond framed by ancient baobab trees.
Private and secluded, Beach House is a a beachside paradise, the perfect place for lazy days, poolside parties and happy memories.
The house sleeps 12 guests in six individual suites dotted across within the 4.5 acre grounds, all with sea views. There is also a pilot’s room if additional accommodation is required.
Set in lush, landscaped gardens, Beach House is a palatial private home overlooking the Indian Ocean from a cliff top on the Kenyan coast in Kilifi, north of Mombasa. The house, designed in contemporary Swahili style, captures the gentle breeze as it rolls in from the ocean, its interior styling infused with the flavours of the coast.
The ground floor of the main house is arranged around a beautiful open veranda, flanked by a breezy dining room on one side, and lavish drawing room on the other. The entire first floor is given over to the master suite, while the other five suites are dotted around the gardens, all with their own verandas or private terraces and cavernous bathrooms with indoor and outdoor showers.
With its 25-metre infinity pool and poolside bar, tennis court, gym and spa within its grounds, Beach House is the ultimate beachside residence, the perfect place for lazy days and happy memories, whether languishing by the pool with a favourite tipple or enjoying a multitude of water sports on the azure waters of the Indian Ocean.
The house is served by an accomplished chef and house team who make a point of understanding and anticipating guests’ preferences, creating mouthwatering delicacies from locally sourced ingredients – including line-caught fish, plucked straight from the ocean by a trusted local fisherman who follows responsible fishing practices.
The ethos underpinning Beach House is one of conservation, with a focus on supporting the local communities through employment and sustainable tourism.
Beach House enjoys a cliff top location overlooking the Indian Ocean in Kilifi, a coastal town situated 56km north east of Mombasa, situated on the southern side of Kilifi Creek where the Goshi River reaches the Indian Ocean.
The house is available for rental on an exclusive occupancy basis, the minimal rental is for 6 guests. The minimum stay is 3 nights in standard season and 6 nights in high season and is available for booking all
year round.

Within the grounds is a 25-metre lap pool, astro-turf flood lit tennis court, gym and spa.
The house is equipped with state-of-the-art communications and entertainment system, with the Sonos music system connected in every room and by the pool, and wi-fi throughout.
The wine cellar is stocked with a collection of fine wines and Champagnes from many of the world’s most prestigious vineyards, available at additional cost to complement the excellent house wines available to guests throughout their stay.
Beach House enjoys a tropical climate with sunshine all year round and temperatures typically in between 25 and 30 degrees Celsius.
The pool area comprises a 25-metre infinity lap pool (1.8 metres at its deepest point) overlooking the Indian Ocean, a fully-stocked bar, shaded day bed and pool loungers. Towels and kikoys are provided at the poolside, with members of the house staff on hand to serve drinks and snacks and mix cocktails as required.
The fully equipped gym consists of free weights, cardio vascular machines and yoga and Pilates accessories. The equipment is not suitable for children below 12 years of age. A therapist is available for treatments on request throughout the day, and Pilates and yoga sessions with experienced instructors can be arranged.
The Astroturf tennis court is floodlit so can it be enjoyed in the cool of the evenings as well as by day. Tennis rackets and balls are available for guests to use and are stored in the main house.
This relaxed room near the drawing room has a large television, so guests can keep abreast of current affairs, watch films and those unmissable big matches. It has a ceiling fan and air-conditioning.
The cellar houses a carefully honed collection of fine wines and champagnes, stored on purpose-designed hardwood racks. In addition to the excellent selection of ‘house’ wines and champagne – personally chosen
by the owners and included in the tariff – guests can discover vintages from many of the world’s most famous wine estates.
In addition to the main professional house kitchen, where guests will find Chef and his team whipping up delicious meals and delicacies, there is a front kitchen which they can use should they wish to fix their own drinks or snacks. Chef is always happy to give cookery lessons to guests wishing to replicate his mouthwatering dishes when they return home.
A coral spiral staircase located near the pool leads down to the ocean, where, during low tide, the rock pools can be explored. The ocean’s coral reef is home to a kaleidoscope of colourful tropical fish. Snorkeling equipment and 2 stand up paddle boards are kept at the house for guests to enjoy.
Beach House has six bedroom suites, the master suite stretching across the entire first floor of the main house, the others located in gorgeous garden cottages on either side, all offering captivating views of the ocean.
Each suite is decorated in a contemporary coastal style, equipped with silent ceiling fans and air-conditioning to keep you at the perfect temperature. Our linen is 400-thread Egyptian cotton, sourced directly from the Nile Valley.
The master suite has its own study and two covered patios connected by a veranda. With a huge polished concrete bath and large open shower, the bathroom leads to the dressing room and private terrace with outdoor shower.
Suites 1 and 2 adjoin each other in a large cottage to the right of the main house, each with its own veranda leading on to the garden. Suites 3 and 4 are located to the left of the main house and mirror the layout of Suites 1 and 2. A staircase runs up between each pair of suites leading to covered private roof terraces furnished with comfortable day beds.
Suite 5 is self-contained in its own little cottage, the bedroom leading onto a sun dappled terrace and the gardens beyond.
Each suite has a spacious bathroom featuring a freestanding polished concrete bath, twin hand basins and both indoor and outside showers, stocked with toiletries made from essential oils to our specification by a
community enterprise in Nanyuki.
Our linen is 400-thread count Egyptian cotton, sourced direct from the Nile Valley. Pillows are available in both feather and hypo-allergenic options.
Each suite has a spacious bathroom with a polished concrete bath, twin basins and indoor and outdoor showers. The bathroom products are made with essential oils to our specification by a community enterprise in Nanyuki.
Each suite has an open veranda and an outside staircase leading to a covered private roof terrace furnished with inviting day beds – just the place for an afternoon siesta, lulled by the gentle ocean breeze.
Healthy eating is central to Beach House. Mouth-watering delicacies are conjured up from locally sourced ingredients and line-caught fish plucked straight from the ocean. Head Chef Thoya will create dishes to suit your specific tastes – but don’t miss his signature lobster ravioli with saffron butter or legendary tuna carpaccio.
A selection of excellent house wines and champagne, personally chosen by the owners, are served throughout your stay.
The Wine Cellar houses an exceptional collection of exquisite wines and champagnes from the world’s most famous estates; these premium wines are available to purchase if you wish to complement the house selection.
Start the day with a delicious, healthy breakfast as the morning sun streams in through the huge open windows. Kept cool by the gentle breeze as it wafts in from the ocean, the dining room is a light and airy space during daylight hours for breakfasts and lunches, and atmospheric at night when set for dinner.
Alternatively, any meal you choose can be served on the al fresco dining terrace, lightly shaded during the day by the boughs of the ancient trees and bathed in the flickering light of scores of candles after dark. The custom-made table has been designed with an ice-trench running along its length, keeping your wine perfectly chilled.
We will also serve dinner beneath the stars on the ocean deck, under the canopy of a giant baobab – or anywhere you choose within the grounds.
As you lounge by the pool in the glorious sunshine with your favourite tunes playing on the Sonos, our team will keep you topped up with snacks, cocktails and juices from the poolside bar.
At the heart of the main house, the open-fronted veranda sweeps seamlessly into the gardens, a light and airy space in which to relax during the heat of the day or gather for cocktails as the sun sets over the ocean.
A polished staircase winds up from the double height atrium to the master suite above, the spectacular chandelier casting a magical light on the sculptures and works of art it houses, a beautiful space to gather together for drinks before dinner.
The drawing room captures the languorous ambience of the coast, overlooking the gardens and the ocean beyond, the perfect place to settle in after dinner to carry on the conversation…
The stretch of ocean by the house is blissfully undisturbed by engine noise from motorised boats. Scuba, deep sea fishing, sailing, kite surfing, wake boarding, water skiing, jet skiing and wind surfing can be enjoyed from a small beach just a stone’s throw away across the tip of the headland.
There’s a colourful kaleidoscope of coral and tropical fish waiting to be discovered while snorkeling in the clear, tropical waters of the Indian Ocean. We have masks, snorkels and fins for you to use during your stay.
To enjoy the reefs and fish from above the surface, take to the waves in our glass-bottomed kayaks or paddle boards.
The mangroves and islands of the Kilifi creek provide a serene backdrop as you sail along the creek on a traditional dhow, sundowner in hand. During the summer months, you’ll see flocks of Northern Carmine Bee Eaters swirling around to roost as the sun sets.
The PGA Baobab Course at Vipingo Ridge, 30-minutes’ drive away, is the best course in East Africa. Being located high on a ridge, playing conditions are cooler than other coastal courses – and the views are spectacular. Riding is also available at Vipingo.
With cardiovascular machines, free weights, pilates and yoga accessories at your disposal, there are plenty of options to work out if you feel you have overindulged. We can arrange yoga and Pilates instructors too if required.
The spa opens on to the gardens, just the place to luxuriate with an invigorating or soothing treatment at the expert hands of our house therapist.
The Astroturf court is floodlit so you can enjoy a game of tennis in the cool of the evening. Rackets and balls are available for you to use, kept in the main house.
There is fast wi-fi throughout the house and pool area, so you can stay connected with the outside world or your business if you choose. There is good mobile phone reception in the house and grounds.
Sonos is connected to every room and the pool area; enjoy our ‘house’ music mixes or link in your own devices to enjoy your favourite tunes.
Next to the Drawing Room, the air-conditioned library has a large screen TV to keep abreast of current affairs, catch up on films and watch those unmissable big matches.
Beach House is surrounded by 10 ft walls with electric fencing, patrolled around the clock by a team of askari (guards). You can access the ocean via a coral-lined staircase spiralling down through the cliff from the pool area, secured by a robust door at its exit to the path below.
Beach House enjoys a peaceful cliff top location overlooking the Indian Ocean in Kilifi, a coastal town situated 56km north east of Mombasa, situated on the southern side of Kilifi Creek where the Goshi River reaches the Indian Ocean.
By Road: Kilifi is a two hour drive from Mombasa and a one hour drive from Malindi.
Scheduled Air: There are daily scheduled flights by Safarilink and Air Kenya from Nairobi Wilson Airport to Vipingo Ridge Golf Estate from where our team meets and collect guests. The drive to Beach House takes approximately 30 minutes.
Private Charter Flights: The airstrip in Kilifi Town is just a 5-minute drive from Beach House, ideal for private charter flights. Private charters can either be booked out of Jomo Kenyatta International Airport or from Wilson airport, Nairobi’s domestic airfield. The house team will collect guests on arrival and can arrange transfers to facilitate travel between Jomo Kenyatta International Airport and Wilson airport if required. Charters are also available to and from Borana Airstrip, close to Beach House’s sister property in the Borana Game Conservancy in Kenya’s Laikipia region.
Helicopter: Beach House has its own helicopter landing pad within the grounds; the house team will arrange helicopter transfers if required.
