Sirai Beach
Sirai Beach sits on a clifftop in Kilifi, on Kenya's north coast, where the gardens give way to the Indian Ocean. It was conceived as a coastal counterpart to Sirai House in Laikipia, and it shares that home's sense of ease: a private house, taken on an exclusive basis, rather than a hotel.
The architecture is contemporary Swahili, set in around four and a half acres of landscaped gardens shaded by ancient baobabs. Interiors by Fox Browne Creative draw on those trees for a calm, neutral palette, with tadelakt plaster, terrazzo and timber worked by local craftsmen alongside pieces gathered from Kenya, Morocco, India and South Africa. Rooms open wide to the sea breeze.
The master suite is in the main house, with five further suites in cottages scattered through the grounds, sleeping twelve in all. Life turns around a 25-metre infinity pool with its own bar, a floodlit tennis court, gym and spa room, and a wine cellar for long evenings on the terrace.
A private chef and house team look after every meal, cooking with local produce and line-caught fish from Kilifi's fishermen, with house wines and champagne included. Beyond the gates, golf and riding at Vipingo Ridge are around half an hour away.
