Over Yonder Cay
Over Yonder Cay is a private island in the Exumas, the chain of cays in the Bahamas famous for some of the clearest water on earth. Once a remote fishing outpost, it is now an eco-conscious retreat built around barefoot luxury, powered by three wind turbines and a 1.5-acre solar field.
The island is rented exclusively and welcomes up to 30 guests across four individually designed villas, each with its own private beach and sweeping views. Meridien House crowns the hill with panoramic views and four suites; West Sands sits near Whale Bone Beach, with a fire pit and hot tub; East Cove looks out over Exuma Sound; and South Point, at the island's southern tip, has a games room on its lower floor. Fifteen bedrooms are spread between them.
The villas have infinity pools and jacuzzis, and every comfort, from a Kaleidescape film library to iPads in each villa. A beach club has a dip pool, shaded lounging and, by night, a DJ booth, sound system, bar and dance floor. A watersports cabana is stocked with equipment for exploring the reefs and sandbars.
The deep-water marina can accommodate several yachts of up to 180 feet, making Over Yonder Cay a superb base for exploring the Exumas by boat. Rates include full use of the island's amenities and activities, and an experienced team looks after every detail.
