Godings Beach House
Godings Beach House is a contemporary beachfront villa on the Platinum Coast of Barbados, in the parish of St Peter, set within around an acre of tropical gardens just a few minutes from the historic town of Speightstown. It was designed by Gillespie & Steel, the award-winning Barbadian architects behind many of the island's finest homes.
The house extends across more than 1,250 square metres and blends clean, contemporary lines with island materials. Its neutral-toned living room has a coral-stone feature wall, designer furniture and a grand dining table, and open-plan spaces frame views of the pool and the sea. A Boffi kitchen, a glass-walled study, a gym and a home cinema complete the interiors.
Outside, a 25-metre mosaic-lined pool with limestone surrounds is the centrepiece of the gardens, and a yoga pavilion and spice garden add to the sense of calm. A pebbled path leads to a protected stretch of beach, with kayaks and a paddleboard for the calm Caribbean water.
Five en-suite bedrooms sleep up to ten guests, some with four-poster beds, each with a walk-in dressing room and private terrace. The master suite has a bathtub looking out over the garden and the beach. A butler, private chef, housekeeping and security are included, and the restaurants and galleries of Speightstown are about three minutes away by car.
