Colina Verde

Colina Verde

Colina Verde is a fully hosted private villa perched on a secluded dune in the coastal forest of the Machangulo Peninsula in southern Mozambique. It faces the Indian Ocean, on a wild stretch of coast where turtles nest on the beaches and humpback whales pass close to shore during the southern winter and spring, often visible from the villa's decks.

Seven themed bedrooms are arranged around a 16-metre heated pool with sea views, and two hot tubs look out over the ocean. The house sleeps up to 18 guests, with connecting and mezzanine rooms that work well for younger children, making it ideal for extended families. Shared spaces include a lounge with a fireplace, a dining room, a study and a games room, along with a tennis court, a gym and a massage room.

A resident management couple runs the house, and dining revolves around the chef, who cooks with produce from the villa's organic garden and fish caught that day.

Stays are all-inclusive, covering meals, wines, local beers and spirits, daily laundry and up to six spa treatments a day. The villa has its own 27-foot game-fishing boat with a professional guide, and snorkelling, dhow sailing and excursions to Maputo National Park and Inhaca Island are included. From Maputo, the villa is about 15 minutes by helicopter or 75 minutes by boat.
