Casa Mia
Casa Mia was born from a meeting of Italian and Brazilian friends working in design and fashion, and it brings together the best of both cultures. It sits within the private, secure Altos de Trancoso community, yet the colourful houses of Trancoso's historic Quadrado are only about ten minutes' walk away, and the beach around 800 metres.
The house is made up of three structures: a main living pavilion and two separate sleeping wings, all set within a lush tropical garden. The living space is impressive in both size and height, with a bar at its centre and a kitchen that can be closed off by wooden sliding doors.
The centrepiece is a 20-metre infinity pool lined with small black stones, introduced by a deck of antique wood and facing the tropical forest. Imposing wooden pillars support a veranda roofed in biriba, a traditional Bahian material, and resin-finished concrete surfaces give the house a breezy, island feel.
Five suites, including a master suite and two junior suites, sleep up to ten guests. A chef and waiter are on hand from morning to mid-afternoon, along with a housekeeper and an English and Portuguese-speaking concierge.
Trancoso's beaches, restaurants and boutiques make it one of Brazil's most stylish coastal escapes.
