Villa Peduzzi
Villa Peduzzi stands high above Lake Como, near the little mountain village of Pigra on the western shore. At around 880 metres above sea level, with no immediate neighbours, it looks south over the lake and the mountains in a view that stretches for miles.
Built in 1909, the villa has been restored by architect Andrea Meirana, and its original Liberty-style ceiling frescoes, Italy's answer to Art Nouveau, have been brought back to life. The interiors, by Studio Daminato, weave Scandinavian and Japanese touches into the Liberty spirit, with bespoke furniture, lighting and textiles throughout.
The house spreads over several levels, with drawing, living and dining rooms, a study, a library, a media room, a bar and two roof terraces. Eight double bedrooms sleep up to sixteen guests, and a yoga and wellness room with steam room keeps guests feeling their best.
Around the house, some four and a half acres of alpine gardens hold a heated 22-metre infinity pool and a pool house with its own kitchen and bar. Children are well catered for with a treehouse, trampoline, zip line and play area, and mountain bikes are ready for the trails. Down at the lake, a private Axopar boat waits at Argegno, reached by a short cable car ride, and a villa manager, chef and housekeeping team look after the house.
