Villa Maçakızı
Villa Maçakızı sits in a sheltered cove on the Aegean coast of the Bodrum Peninsula, surrounded by pine-covered hills and deep blue water. It is the private, exclusive-use villa of Maçakızı, the celebrated hotel near Türkbükü whose story began in the 1970s as an artists' retreat, and lies a short boat ride across the water from the hotel's jetty.
The hillside house steps down towards the sea, and inside, the interiors by designer Barbara Pensoy are calm and sophisticated. Ten suites sleep up to twenty guests, each conceived as a private retreat with sea views and a balcony or terrace of its own.
At the water's edge, a 200-square-metre infinity pool, private decking with cabanas and pontoons for boats bring the Aegean right to the door. For wellbeing there is a spa with two massage rooms, a traditional Turkish hammam, a sauna and a gym, with tailored treatments and private sessions with a personal trainer available.
Food is at the heart of the experience. The villa's chef creates daily menus from seasonal local produce and herbs from the garden, cooked in a wood-fired oven or over the barbecue, with plant-based and raw options too. A wine cellar and spirits bar, butlers on site, twice-daily housekeeping and 24-hour security complete the picture.
