Villa Hygeia
Villa Hygeia sits in the pine forests above Čikat Bay on Lošinj, an island long celebrated for its healthy air and nicknamed the Island of Vitality. Its name, borrowed from the Greek goddess of health, suits the setting perfectly.
The house was once the summer residence of a distinguished local shipbuilding family, and its restoration pays quiet tribute to that maritime past. Interiors are washed in Prussian blue, echoing the Adriatic, and the attic master suite, with its white timber panelling and exposed beams, feels like the cabin of a vintage sailing yacht. A wisteria-draped pergola shades the terrace.
Five suites across three floors sleep ten guests, two of them designed especially for children, with a separate staff room. The house has been restored with every modern comfort, including an open-plan living area, a wine cellar, a private cinema room and a lift between floors.
The landscaped garden looks out over the bay, with terraces for long lunches and direct access to the water. Stays are full board, with meals, Croatian wines and refreshments included, along with daily housekeeping, laundry and transfers. Guests can also enjoy the Michelin-starred restaurant and wellness facilities at the neighbouring Boutique Hotel Alhambra.
