Superyacht Charter in Italy

Italy offers four quite different charters, from the painted harbours of Liguria to the volcanic islands off Sicily. Most clients choose one region for a week rather than trying to cover the whole coast.

Where to cruise

  • Liguria — Portofino, the Cinque Terre and Portovenere; easily combined with a Riviera charter from Monaco.
  • Amalfi Coast and Capri — Positano, Amalfi, Capri, and the quieter islands of Ischia and Procida; the most dramatic coastline in the Mediterranean.
  • Sardinia — the Costa Smeralda and the Maddalena archipelago, with some of the clearest water in Europe.
  • Aeolian Islands — Stromboli, Salina, Panarea and Lipari; wilder, volcanic and far less visited.

A suggested week: Naples, Capri and the Amalfi Coast

  1. Board in Naples; cross to Procida for the evening.
  2. Ischia's thermal gardens and lunch ashore.
  3. Capri: the Faraglioni by tender, dinner in the Piazzetta.
  4. Positano; a day at anchor beneath the town.
  5. Amalfi and Ravello.
  6. The Li Galli islands and lunch at Nerano.
  7. Back to Capri or Sorrento to disembark.

When to go

June and September are ideal across all four regions. In August, the Amalfi Coast, Capri and the Costa Smeralda are at their busiest, so the Aeolian Islands or Liguria can feel more relaxed.

Stay ashore

Pair a Ligurian charter with a villa near Portofino, or a southern charter with a house on the Amalfi Coast or Capri. In Sardinia, a villa on the Costa Smeralda makes a natural base before or after the boat.
