Super Luxurious Retreat on Gouverneur Hill, St Barths

This super luxurious retreat is in one of the best locations in St Barths. Whilst being impeccably finished for the most discerning guest, the house has character and warmth ensuring a vacation here is wonderfully relaxing and restorative.

The extensive use of natural materials gives the house a wonderful ambiance. The colours of the house are white and blue. The blue is the ocean and the sky: there are expansive uninterrupted views of the shimmering blue ocean with the islands of Nevis, St Kitts, St Eustache and Saba in the distance. The white is the wood; simple, luxurious and tactile.

The location is perfect for holidaying in St Barths. The house is a short drive from Gustavia and St Jean. It has a perfect sun profile and wonderful sunset views. In December it is sheltered from the sometimes blustery Trade-Winds. It is a short drive down the hill to Gouverneur Beach. Gouverneur is that Caribbean fantasy beach, clear turquoise water and white sand fringed with palm trees. It’s one of the most beautiful on the island.

The house and garden are private and quiet. Against the backdrop of blue and white there are lush, tropical and fragrant gardens. The house is spacious and calming. The atmosphere is of understated luxury.
This is the perfect place to unwind and relax with family and friends.

There are six double suites. The gorgeous ultra-lux master suite is on the first floor with a large wrap around terrace. The terrace is the perfect place for a private drink or to chill with friends.​

There are five bedroom suites on the main floor. All are large double ensuite rooms and all face the sea. The layout is to ensure privacy and space for guests. However, for families, we have ensured that three bedrooms are connected to the main house; the first floor master suite and two double suites. There is also a single en-suite room perfect for nannies or staff.

The main space is an open plan living and kitchen area. Built to be cooled naturally by the breeze pull back the sliding doors and enjoy an inside/outside feeling. Or if you wish there is, of course, air-conditioning. The terrace has a 5 metre long table perfect for hosting dinner parties and long lunches. Our favourite part of the terrace is the ultra-comfortable outside living room with a pull down screen for watching movies. Perfect for city dwellers who want to enjoy precious balmy evenings outside but still enjoy a great movie or box-set. There is a separate TV room with a big screen and an Xbox games console.

The property has a large lush garden. There are bananas, limes and avocados. Wander round the garden with a sundowner and enjoy the fragrant flowers and sounds the tropics.

Inspired by travels to Mauritius three of the bedrooms have large outdoor showers. Indulge your inner Tarzan or Jane and enjoy an outdoor shower against the soundtrack of tropical birds.

If you know St Barths, you will know that there are some crazy steep driveways. The house is on a large flat plot with easy access: so no crazy hill starts necessary.

The house has a state of the art gym. Turn up the airconditioning and the music and do some spinning or use the plentiful selection of Technogym equipment. There is a yoga deck outside the fitness room. See the section on people for our recommended yoga teachers.

If you prefer outdoors, there is a paddle tennis court. This is approximately 2/3 the size of a regular tennis court and is played with a small hard paddle. If you are a real tennis player, paddle tennis is a fun way to improve your top spin and burn some calories. For novices it’s more accessible than tennis. All levels can easily have a go and quickly establish long and fast rallies. It’s great fun and with music adding to the atmosphere it’s a fantastic addition to pool side parties. Its floodlight and can be used when the sun goes down and when the air temperature is cooler.

Kids love the trampoline. Find your inner child and enjoy some carefree jumping. Shoot some hoops in our super cool basketball hoop. Or simply top up Vitamin D levels floating in the pool on the uber stylish Paola Lenti floating beds.

We love the atmosphere here. It is laid back barefoot luxury. Of course there is every modern comfort with an integrated Sonos sound system throughout the house, plentiful Apple TV consoles, quiet air conditioning, blackout curtains and large comfortable beds. But there is a relaxing restorative atmosphere to ensure a perfect vacation.
