Sting and Trudie Styler’s Private Estate, Tuscany, Italy

The estate lies amid the rolling hills of the lush, fertile Tuscan countryside south of Florence in Italy. The private home of Sting and his wife Trudie Styler, the favourite retreat for their friends and growing family, this truly remarkable sixteenth-century estate nestling amongst the vineyards of the Chianti region is now available as a luxury events venue and bespoke holiday destination.

Set above the picturesque Tuscan town of Figline Valdarno, it has been the summer home for Sting and Trudie’s growing family for the last two decades, and the setting for many of their intimate parties, private concerts and anniversaries. The villa, its guesthouses, vineyards and olive groves have all been lovingly restored by Sting and Trudie, and it is now a vibrant and fully functioning organic farm and vineyard. Now, Trudie and Sting are offering this truly spectacular, completely unique and historically significant location as a place for you to have a once-in-a-lifetime experience, host the most special of occasions, or simply relax and enjoy a truly incredible location.

The grounds offer a sprawling picture book for you to explore. Where countless small joys and moments of wonder await. The estate extends some 350 hectares, much of the land given over to forest which boasts, among its countless natural wonders, some truly breathtaking lakes.

The Villa is the heart of the estate. And has to be seen to be believed. It perches elegantly at the top of a long steep drive, overlooking the distant Tuscan hills and the undulating countryside. Offering an extraordinary panorama of vineyards, olive groves, cypress and oak forests as well as a view of the lush Appenines in the distance. Each unique room looks out at a view that is both breathtaking and serene. And sunsets that light the sky on fire.

As with the rest of the estate, the villa has been beautifully and meticulously restored. Providing an oasis of tranquility. With a cool loggia to relax on during long hot Tuscan days, a tennis court, dining areas, a serene lake, nearby stables and countless beautiful places for you to explore, enjoy and create memories that will last a lifetime.

The villa is also home to the main pool and lounging area. Where Sting and his family have enjoyed countless warm days and sultry Italian nights. It is the perfect venue for entertaining, large gatherings, or for simply relaxing under the Tuscan sun.

History

In the late 1700s the Martelli family purchased the property, then in 1819 they sold to the Countess Carlotta Barbolani of Montauto, the widow of the Duke of San Clemente. It remained in this family’s hands for some 150 years. At the beginning of the twentieth century Duke Simone Vincenzo Velluti Zati di San Clemente commissioned several new buildings including a grain store, oil mill and wine production area. When Sting and Trudie first came across the estate in 1999, it had by then fallen into a state of some disrepair, but they have since restored it to its former glory and beyond.

Master Suite

This is where Trudie and Sting stay. The master suite of the main villa and a space like no other. It is rarely made available for rent. But if you have the chance, this is a rare peek into the lives of Trudie and Sting, and a singular experience.

Estate Pool

The main pool at the villa is special. Looking out on what feels like all of Tuscany. It is one of the more peaceful places on the estate to wile away a sunny, summer day. Or an ideal location for virtually any event or special occasion one can imagine. It is also a personal favourite for Trudie, Sting, and the rest of the family.

Formal Fountain

When a stunning fountain that once belonged to Sophia Loren was sourced, the estate was surely the perfect home for this gorgeous find, the epitome of Italian glamour.

Chess

This may be the most spectacular place on earth to play a game of chess. The oversized chess set, reminiscent of that played by kings in their courts, sits just a few feet from the main villa pool. No matter how well or poorly you play, you truly can’t lose.

Food

There are few places on earth where great food and wine are more revered, respected and important than in Tuscany. You’ll find locally sourced – much of it from the estate itself – and expertly prepared dishes and delicacies to suit even the most discerning palate. Including of course some of Sting and Trudie’s personal favourites. You can also have the menu tailored to your particular tastes. Whatever the case, we guarantee a transcendent culinary experience.

Personalised Menu

Your comfort and happiness are paramount. So when it comes to dining, the choice is yours. No matter what your particular taste, preference, or requirements, you can customize a menu that’s perfect for you and for your guests. Vegan, organic, locally sourced, gluten free, or virtually any other request can be easily accommodated.

Sustainable Produce

Trudie and Sting both share a passion for the environment. Which is why, in addition to lovingly restoring the estate, they have returned it to its roots as a working farm. One where sustainable, organic methods and produce have resulted in such bounty that Sting and Trudie have opened a farm shop selling everything made or grown on the estate. Including estate wines, fresh fruit and vegetables, local salami, olive oil and honey.

Activities

The Lake

Cool off with a walk in the shady woods and discover the serene and tranquil lake, yet another beautiful setting in which to relax in nature. The more adventurous may choose to swim out to the anchored decking in the middle of the lake – otherwise a picnic on the jetty makes for a delicious afternoon.

Tennis

The cool and shady tennis court is hidden away among the terraced woodland just below the Chalet. Like everything here, even the most casual knock-up is taken to another level simply by being in such a beautiful setting.

Yoga

There are few better ways to unplug, unwind, and relax than yoga. Unless of course you are doing yoga in the Tuscan hills where birdsong filters in through the open widows and soft, natural light fills the room.

Meditation Gardens

The grounds offer acres of space to find peace and stillness and tranquility. But few more so than the meditation gardens. Here zen meets the warmth and simplicity of old Italy to create something unlike anything you’ve experienced before. And something you will never forget.

Outdoor Film Screenings

Grab a blanket and a bottle of one of the estate’s signature wines and enjoy a night at the movies like no other. Under the stars in the heart of the Tuscan hills. A venue that could elevate any film to transcendence. And take transcendent films to even greater heights.

Horseback Riding

Trudie is the riding enthusiast of the family. The estate is home to stables, and some simply beautiful horses that used to live in their English country home. Nearby the Vecchio Texas riding school can offer guests rides around the countryside, including through the estate’s land. So saddle up. And discover some are new views of this beautiful region in a unique and wonderful way.

Grounds

Wine Cellar

The old wine cellar stores some delicious wines. But it also makes for one of the most romantic locations on the entire property for intimate events, dinners and parties. Candlelit, mysterious and magical, it offers an unexpected and special experience.

Recording Studio

And of course, there’s a state-of-art recording studio. Boasting as decoration many gold and platinum discs, testament to the career of its owner. This is where Sting has recorded many of his albums – and, subject to availability – may also be rented.

Livestock

As a working farm, the estate is also home to many animals – chickens, wild boar and domesticated pigs, as well as horses, several cats, and sometimes the family’s dogs. Animals are close to both Sting and Trudie’s hearts, and the estate provides them with an idyllic lifestyle.

Vineyards

Old-world mastery meets new-world techniques in the vineyards here. Where the perfect climate and ideal soil conditions combine to produce stunning grapes, carefully blended to create high-scoring and delicious Chianti and IGT Toscana wines. Casino delle Vie, When We Dance, Message in a Bottle and Sister Moon are four cracking reds you can enjoy while here, and then stock up the cellar or wine rack with your favourites when you’re back home.

The estate also offers several special and guesthouses on the grounds. Their are four guesthouses with 1 to 3 bedrooms along with a five-bedroom former country farmhouse among vineyards just ten minutes from the main estate.
