Secluded Beachfront Residence, Algarve, Portugal
The owners of this private Algarve residence scoured the world to find their favourite beach, then created their own Portuguese paradise, a personal haven where they could spend time together, making lasting memories, and loving every moment.
Suites
The owner’s suite boasts a king-size bed, two bathrooms, walk-in wardrobe and a private retreat. There are four other suites, each one with its own bathroom and all equipped with safes. To ensure your privacy is never compromised, there are a further two separate
bathrooms for your guests.
Five suites each with coastal views flow out onto the estate’s grounds with direct beach access
and the space to simply roam. Multiple living and dining areas keep things private or offer options for entertaining. Plus, everything else you could expect from a private home of this calibre lovingly curated for a stay that will remain with you long after you’ve left.
Art
The residence is home to a private art collection. Along with Diogo Machado, local artists include Vhils, Estúdio Onze and CFey. Other works feature France’s famous graffiti artist Blek le Rat, Colombia’s Miler Lagos, Cabo’s Frank Arnold and Canada’s Jane Waterous. Add to these Bahamian artists Amos Ferguson and Kendra Frorup, as well as the Asian influences of Guan Wei and Shen Ming Cun. What has been curated from many years of passionate collecting is now on display for your personal viewing.
Entertaining
Overlooked by no-one, indoor and outdoor merge together to create a multitude of living and dining areas. Keep things private or invite everyone over, with the vast expanse of carefully considered spaces, flowing from one to the other. Entertainers will appreciate the Gaggenau appliances and a separate butler’s kitchen to cater for every occasion, while a choice of outdoor kitchens keep the food and refreshments coming for those lounging on the furniture by Italian designer Roda. One BBQ area by the kitchen boasts a wok ring. Dine poolside where the kitchen is equipped with a cooled wine cabinet, ice maker, fridge, BBQ, oven and Miele coffee machine.
Environment
There is direct access to the beach along a cobblestoned path flanked with lush foliage. Or simply roam the manicured garden to the wooden deck, where you can bask in the coral hues of
the Algarvian sunset. Sun drenched summers are followed by mild, pleasant winters. Either way your entire private residence is climate controlled, with a gas fireplace in the living area for cosy
nights spent indoors.
Relaxation
This private residence comes with a fully equipped Technogym, infinity pool that can be heated upon request, or opt for the steam room and sauna. The sound system operates outdoors, with effortless online connection throughout. There’s also a cinema space for your viewing pleasure. With so much on offer, you could spend your entire stay here on the estate, only venturing as far as the beach and back.
This private and secluded beachside residence sits high, overlooking Praia da Maria Luisa with its sandy coves, scenic orange cliffs and pristine surroundings. It’s one of the most privileged locations on this coastline, high above prying eyes, amongst an enclave of summer homes that
have remained in the families of Portuguese for many generations. For you, this is a chance to slow down and live the Algarvian way. To find yourself in a place that takes you back to where life feels right.
Beach access is a short stroll along a path overlooking a gully. Breathe in the subtle sweet Stone Pine scent or admire the vibrant Pink Chorão Carpobrotus edulis, replaced by samphire and Mediterranean saltwort once you step onto the sand. Looking back, the cliff face is a kaleidoscope of colour, created by rainwater running off the tops and polished by the tides. Erosion over time has carved out inlets and sheltered nooks for shade, along with arches and other rock formations for your exploration.
Activities
Tour the coast by foot, the interior by bike or sail your way across the sea. Paddle, surf, or ride the beach on horseback. Take part in an artisanal workshop, learn how to eat like a local or have a Michelin Chef experience. Spend your days however you choose, doing a lot or very little.
Coastline
Sunbeds, jet skis, kayaks and stand-up paddle boards for rent, with the shallows safe for children to enjoy. Watch for local Vitor Raposo and his art that the sea erases. You might even like to try your hand at sand sculpture. Or follow the brown signposts to the Praia for an unrivalled view of the coastline. Then continue along the cliff tops, all the way to Olhos de Água beach with its freshwater springs on the shore and terraced walkways lined with pine trees, acacia and aloe.
Surrounds
Have your driver introduce you to the neighbouring villages. Olhos de Água is a quaint fishing town that has defied the passing of time. While the Atlantic laps its sandy shores, it remains to this day authentically Mediterranean. Eastwards from here, the red cliffs lead to Vilamoura. From its ancient Roman bathhouse ruins, complete with mosaics, to its marina and casino, it is an exquisite mix of contrasts. A little further along and you’ll arrive at Quinta do Lago, the epitome of Algarvian affluence. Part of the Golden Triangle, its pristine beach and perfect sunsets are matched by what players tend to agree is the very best golf course in Portugal.
History
Since time immemorial, this stunning section of the coastline has been invaded and settled by many. Among them the Phoenicians, Carthaginians, and Romans who brought the practice of salting and drying fish, a delicacy that spread the length and breadth of the Algarve coast. In recent times an archaeological find uncovered traces of these tanks on the Maria Luisa and Santa Eulália beaches.
Culture
Venture east for an hour and you’ll arrive at the Spanish border, having passed the Ria Formosa Natural Park. Resplendent in white sandy beaches and lush green wetlands, this park is the pride of the Algarve, acclaimed over the country as one of the Seven Natural Wonders of Portugal. Head west to the medieval towns of Silves and Monchique, stopping towards Sagres for rock cliffs, hiking, or even some surfing. From the old town of Faro, the Salt Mine in Loulé and the food market in Olhão, to a boat or the option of touring in a classic Mercedes, this part of the Algarve really is a gateway.
Inspired by the beach, the views, the breeze, the trees, the effortless conversations and welcomed quiet times in between. Here the brief was to create a place that absorbs the natural ambience, then wraps itself around you as it welcomes you inside, where you can be yourself confident that no-one can see in. From the moment you step into this private residence, there is something reassuringly familiar. Heart, tranquillity, wellbeing are words that may spring to mind. But for most it’s that sense of comfort that comes with feeling at home.
Architecture
Using his vast experience with the high-end markets of Vale do Lobo and Quinta do Lago, the architect has cleverly elevated the quintessential laidback Mediterranean lifestyle in delivering this project. His vision has been translated into a sense of harmony, ever present throughout, along with exciting moments of inspired aesthetics. Through collaboration with artist Add Fuel, the villa entrance exudes an ocean view. The wavy ceiling reflects the element of water, with south Portugal’s Moorish influence mirrored in the metal work patterns. Add to this a respect for the vernacular heritage and the residence complements the surrounding local architecture.
Landscape
Native vegetation and seasonal changes are evident in the manicured gardens, open air rooms and meandering pathways. Lush mature foliage, splashes of colour, shady canopies and just the right amount of sunshine have turned these grounds into a private paradise.

This private residence comes with a fully equipped Technogym, infinity pool that can be heated upon request, as well as a steam room and sauna. The sound system operates outdoors, with effortless online connection throughout. There’s also a cinema space for your viewing pleasure.
