This historically significant stone monastery, complete with original fireplaces, private terraces and ample leisure and dining rooms, will be a venue to relax and wine & dine as the estate chefs cater to your every need. Enjoy the space, the elegant architecture, and gracious grounds, as if it were your own home. The villa features both formal and informal spaces to gather, play or enjoy your privacy. Gathering spaces include a library, billiards and a private theatre, as well as outdoor bocce and a pool with spa services.

History:
The former monastery of the Minor Capuchin Friars, first established in 1564—is located in Passignano sul Trasimeno in the vicinity of Umbria known as the home of St. Francis of Assisi. The 60-acre estate stands today as it has for more than four centuries, perched on a hill overlooking Lake Trasimeno and surrounded by vineyards and olive groves. Designed according to the tenets of functional devotional simplicity, it was built as a safe haven and respite for pilgrims on their journey to the Holy City. 

Today the estate has been fully restored with an impressive array of modern amenities and state-of-the-art facilities, and stands as a magnificent testament to history and a commitment to the future.

The main villa:
Set over three floors and accessible via elevator, all bedrooms feature individually controlled heating and air-conditioning, satellite TV with Kaleidescape entertainment units, Geneva sound systems with iPod-docks, en suite bathrooms usually with two basin vanities, separate walk-in showers and most have freestanding tubs.

The library building:
A spectacular area of the Convento, the Library has an incredible galleried library and living room with a restructured Renaissance fireplace, a house-bar area and, for after dinner entertainment, there is a superb games room area with a billiards table, cards table and a 20ft. American shuffleboard.

The setting of the library is where the principal dining room is located. Here there is seating for up to 34 guests. There is an adjacent wine cellar through a hidden door which features over 115 bins. In addition, in the main kitchen there is also a separate chef’s table that can seat ten. Also located within the Library Building is the private cinema, seating 16 and features a movie database in excess of a thousand titles.

The gardens:
13-acres of enclosed formal gardens, with pristine lawns, one area of which is set up for croquet, a boules court and a professional tennis court. There are superb sitting and dining areas and an incredible fire pit overlooking the lake below. In short they are idyllic gardens both from an aesthetic perspective and in terms of the entertainment and activities they offer.

Beautiful south and west facing views over the shimmering fabled shores and islands of Lake Trasimeno and the hills beyond.

Staff: A full-time management couple, with an extensive international hospitality background, live on the estate • Kitchen staff includes the head-chef with his brigade of sous-chefs and assistants • Professionally trained wait staff, including a Sommelier • The head housekeeper and her team provide a twice daily maid service, seven days a week • A houseman tends to the guest outdoor areas as well as their being various garden staff.

Food and beverage: A daily food and beverage supplement is charged and covers all meals; breakfast, brunch, lunch, afternoon tea, dinner and any snacks • Children aged between 7 and 12 are charged 50% with children six and under exempt of this supplement and hence their stay is complimentary • Guests are encouraged to join our chef in the kitchen at any time to assist, request any culinary tips or for one on one cooking lessons • Children are also welcome to assist, particularly with morning baking sessions of cakes and cookies for afternoon tea (or any other time for that matter) • All beverages from our various house-bars are also included within the daily supplement, both alcoholic and non-alcoholic.
