Kiko

Kiko is a four-storey coral stone villa set right on the white sand of Paynes Bay, in the parish of St James on the Platinum West Coast of Barbados. Sandy Lane's golf courses and the boutiques of Limegrove are close by, yet behind its garden gate the villa feels like a private world.

Nine beachfront bedrooms sleep up to 20 guests, each with its own balcony and individual décor. Two penthouse suites occupy the whole second floor, sharing a sitting room and butler's pantry, and a ground-floor garden suite with its own entrance is ideal for a nanny or staff. Italian marble floors and commissioned artworks run throughout, and the salon, living terrace and dining room for 18 all look over the pool and gardens.

That pool is an oversized 25-metre saltwater pool, with a private gate leading straight to the beach. Kiko is made for families and celebrations, with a games room that has its own bowling alley, a cinema with more than 200 films, a gym with a sauna, a yoga and Pilates studio and the villa's own spa for massages, facials and grooming.

A butler, private chef, housekeeping, laundress, gardener, pool attendant, night security and a guest services manager look after the house. Rum punch at sunset on the bar terrace, beach barbecues and tasting menus are all part of the stay.
