Il Borro
Villa Il Borro is the historic residence at the heart of Il Borro, a vast organic estate in the Valdarno countryside of Tuscany, between Florence and Arezzo. From its terraces it overlooks the medieval hamlet of Il Borro, a village that traces its story back to a Roman fortress.
The estate has passed through remarkable hands. It belonged to Prince Emanuele Filiberto of Savoy and later the Duke of Aosta, before Ferruccio Ferragamo, of the celebrated Florentine fashion house, acquired it in 1993. The Ferragamo family has since restored the villa, the medieval village and the surrounding farmland, and today the estate's vineyards are certified organic.
The villa offers around 1,100 square metres of living space, with ten bedrooms and ten bathrooms for up to 20 guests. Its elegant rooms include a billiard room and a private wine cellar, and there is an indoor pool, a gym and a sauna for cooler days. Outside, an Italian-style garden surrounds a 15-metre pool, a lawn and a barbecue area, and a private annex holds a hunting room with a panoramic terrace.
Breakfast is served in the villa, and staff are on hand for eight hours a day, with daily cleaning and garden maintenance. Guests can also enjoy the estate's restaurants, spa, wine tastings and horse riding.
