Fabulous Art-Lovers Apartment on Place Vendôme Place, Paris

The Apartment

Located in the middle of the most beautiful and famous square in Paris, this is an elegant and unique XVIII century, 200 square metre apartment (around 2152 square feet). This exclusive residence, palpably Parisian in its period opulence, once belonged to the Rothschilds, a powerful dynasty of art-loving bankers who were good friends of the artist René Letourneur, the owner’s grandfather.

The original architectural features contrast harmoniously with the contemporary furniture selected by French interior designers Charles-Philippe and Christophe (Laboratoire Design).

The residence’s prestige is further enhanced by the collection of rare art pieces belonging to the owner’s family, including pieces by Modigliani, Francis Bacon and Chaissac.

With its understated elegance and four big windows overlooking the impressive Place Vendôme, the 55-square metre (592 sq.ft) salon offers a quiet and comfortable space for guests to read, work and relax. This beautiful room is enriched by Versailles flooring, a period marble fireplace and gold-leaf décor. The ample size and charm of the adjoining dining room makes it ideal for business lunches; but it is also perfect for romantic dinners, thanks to its panoramic view and period features.

Dining

Breakfast, lunches and dinners can be enjoyed at this picturesque 18th century Palazzo.

Each evening brings new unique dining experiences, tailor-made according to guest preferences. A private Chef, as well as a dedicated staff, will provide all the services of a luxury hotel while maintaining the privacy and comfort of a private residence.

Rooms

The two luxury suites are very spacious at 45 and 35 sqm respectively (around 485 and 375 sq.ft). They are also very bright, thanks to big windows offering stunning views of either Place Vendôme or the beautiful neighbouring gardens.

Each of the two suites boasts a King-size double bed, TV, luxurious period and contemporary furniture and art. The ample en-suite bathrooms feature marble bathtubs and twin washbasins. There is also a third bathroom for guests.

Place Vendôme 

A grandiose setting that embodies absolute power in the very heart of Paris, Place Vendôme was commissioned in 1698 by Louis XIV and designed by Jules Hardouin-Mansart. “Le Roi Soleil” (the Sun King) wanted a deluxe space in which grand royal events could take place.

The finest jewellery houses opened their stores and ateliers here throughout the decades. Nowadays, the square is the emblem of French luxury.

The Hôtel de Bourvaillas, at number 13 Place Vendôme, houses the Ministry of Justice; a marble metre is reproduced on its facade, to make Parisians familiar with the new measurement unit introduced during the French Revolution. The Ritz Hotel, at number 15, has welcomed the most distinguished customers over the years, such as Ernest Hemingway, Charlie Chaplin, Rodolfo Valentino, Maria Callas, Coco Chanel and Lady Diana.
