Embrace
Villa Embrace is carved into the mountainside high above Gustavia, with sweeping views over the harbour, the sea and the hills of St Barths. Completed in 2022 after a 12-year build, it was designed by Architectonik, the practice behind the island's celebrated Eden Rock hotel, and it is one of the most ambitious private homes in the Caribbean.
Arranged over four levels and around 12,000 square feet, the house pairs Swedish-style roofing and stone from the site itself with walls of glass that frame the view. Inside, exotic woods, custom lighting, commissioned art and furniture by names such as Vladimir Kagan and Casa Fendi set the tone, and a four-storey glass lift rises beside an indoor waterfall.
Five suites sleep up to ten guests, each with a private terrace and outdoor shower. Two infinity-edge pools look out to sea, and there is a great room, a family room, a games room with a bespoke leather games table, a gym, an outdoor massage suite and a top-floor study. Beneath it all lies an extensive wine cellar and an underground garage for ten cars.
A chef, butler and housekeeping team look after the house, and yacht charters can be arranged. Despite its sense of seclusion, the villa is a short walk from one of the island's best-loved beaches, and the boutiques and restaurants of Gustavia are just below.
