Contessa
Contessa is a new seafront villa on Lošinj, the island in Croatia's Kvarner Gulf long celebrated for its clean, pine-scented air. It takes its name from the Contessa Hilda, a celebrated early 20th-century Croatian sailing ship, and its master suite honours her captain. The other suites are named after figures from the island's history.
The villa is arranged around a Roman-style courtyard, closed to the road yet open to the sky, which gives it complete privacy. Every room looks out to sea, and the beach lies just beyond the gate. Outside, a heated infinity pool kept at a warm 34°C sits among sunbeds and lounging terraces, and a panoramic jacuzzi on the roof is the place for sunset drinks.
Five suites sleep up to 12 guests, and families are especially well looked after. A dedicated children's floor has its own play area and dormitory, and kayaks, paddleboards, bikes and e-scooters are ready for exploring. For downtime there is a private cinema, a billiards room, a gym, a sauna and an indoor jacuzzi.
The service is exceptional. Two private chefs, one for family meals and one for fine dining, a certified butler and a personal concierge look after the house, and staff unpack on arrival. A sommelier, massages, a fitness coach, a yacht and even classic cars can be arranged.
