Classic Harbour Island Beach House, The Bahamas

This is a stunning, palatial, beachfront villa in Harbour Island, a paradisal strip of beach northeast of Eleuthera, where cars are forbidden and the sands are pink. With six bedrooms that sleep twelve, a pool, terraces, gardens, gym, beachfront and ocean views, it’s the perfect vacation rental for families, friends and destination wedding guests. Situated at the end of a small laneway, nestled on two sides into a hillside and commanding a 25 foot high dune along its beachfront, the property offers its guests complete privacy.

The villa comes with a chef and his assistant, a house manager, 3 butlers, 3 housekeepers, 3 garden / beach maintenance employees, and a security guard at night. 

Guest Rooms

The villa’s main house includes five bedrooms, four with king beds (two of which can be made into twins) and one with a queen bed. Palm Cottage, our guest house, has an additional suite with a king bed. All of the rooms have ensuite bathrooms, and four of them include alfresco showers. The décor of the rooms is simply beautiful, with sumptuous bedding and furnishings. Both the master and guesthouse suites have private terraces with stunning views, while the other rooms have private entrances from the veranda or garden.

MASTER BEDROOM

The master bedroom features a king size canopy bed, private ocean view terrace, two separate bathrooms each with their own dressing area, one with a luxurious tub and a shared outdoor shower.

BEACH LADY 

Drawing inspiration from the photographs of Slim Aarons, the Beach Lady room features a king size bed, two built-in closets, satellite tv, and an ensuite bathroom with a large bathtub and alfresco shower. Beach Lady and Ocean Room share a large outdoor terrace.

OCEAN

The Ocean room is inspired by the Caribbean sea, which you can view from the bedside window. It features a king size bed, two built-in closets, satellite tv, and an ensuite bathroom with a large bathtub and alfresco shower.

SEAHORSE

The Seahorse room is perfect for anyone with a newborn or small child. In addition to a king size bed, this room also includes a small crib and a baby tub in the ensuite bathroom, an interior shower, satellite tv and a very spacious sitting area. 

CHANTICLEER

Inspired by the many chickens found on Harbour Island, the Chanticleer Room has a queen size bed, stunning views and a private terrace which connects to a library. The ensuite contains an interior shower. 

PALM COTTAGE

Tucked away amongst the lush greenery of the gardens, the Palm Cottage features a king size bed, a small kitchenette, satellite tv, an ensuite bathroom with alfresco shower, and a private ocean view terrace with two sun loungers.

Dining

Lunch and Dinner are provided by our chef and according to your preference. You may choose to dine inside the elegant main salon, on the upper veranda, in the beachfront Cabana dining pavilion, or have our staff set up a dining table for you poolside amongst the palm trees. All dining areas overlook the stunning Pink Sands Beach and Caribbean Sea.

In addition to your own personal chef, the kitchen is fully equipped with chef grade appliances and a breakfast bar. The kitchen pantry is fully stocked with soft drinks, juices, tea, coffee, snacks and fruit. The Island is surrounded by waters filled with excellent local fish making fresh fish to table meals both excellent and easy. 

SIGNATURE SERVICE

– A light buffet breakfast to be enjoyed at your leisure, which can consist of overnight oats, toast, fruit, hard boiled eggs and a selection of jams placed on the kitchen island from 7 am until 10 am, prepared by our staff.

– The Butlers pantry, which has Nespresso coffee/espresso, milk frothers and a selection of teas is available to you at any time. 

– Lunch is often served family-style by the pool. 

– Evening service includes pre-dinner cocktail hour, and a more formal plated evening meal. 

Of course these are just suggestions, and we encourage you to make it your own and allow us to cater to your taste. Planning however is important as it is not always easy to secure specific requests without ordering.

DINING OUT

For a small island, the area is blessed with many excellent dining options, most of which are just a walk down the beach. We would be happy to recommend our favourites, and the house manager is always available to assist with booking reservations. 

MAIN SALON / DINING AREA

The villa’s main open-concept interior features a luxurious lounge and dining table under high, vaulted ceilings, fringed by delightful seashell molding. The décor is exquisite throughout, from the original artwork on the walls, to the lovely parquet floors and charming palms of carved wood. The Caribbean Ocean is never out of sight, and the interior positively glows with its changing light.

UPPER & LOWER TERRACE

Wide doors open from the villa’s main salon and dining area to the upper terrace, with another spacious lounge and elegant alfresco dining table. Twin staircases lead you to the lower floor veranda, with another lounge area, two porch swings, and a ping pong table.

OFFICE

Just off the main dining area is our dedicated office space, featuring a large wooden desk, a desktop computer with high-speed internet, and a small sitting area. 

MEDIA ROOM

Down the hallway from the main salon is the media room equipped with satellite, local cable and Apple TV, as well as a selection of puzzles and games. The beautiful, large sectional that wraps around the room is big enough for the entire family. 

LIBRARY

Down the stairs from the media room is our light-filled library, with beautiful views of the garden, two reading chairs and a large desk.

FITNESS CENTER

Our fitness center contains a Peloton spin bike and bike shoe collection, and is connected with access to NYC live or taped spin classes. The gym also contains The Mirror by Lululemon, weights, resistance bands, yoga mats and yoga blocks. Sand bikes are also available for training on the beach.

Staff can arrange on-site personal training or yoga/pilates classes at your discretion. For this, prior notice is required. 

SWIMMING POOL

The property has a heated (84F/29C) 60 x 20 foot swimming pool, finished in a stunning Bisazza mosaic glass tile imported from Spain. The pool is surrounded by shade and sun options, and a large selection of sun chairs, loungers, and a lovely covered pavilion. Here, you can enjoy cool, classic cocktails in the delicious breeze, while barbequing on the poolside grill.

POOL HOUSE / OUTDOOR DINING PAVILION

The pool house includes an alfresco dining pavilion with a deluxe bar, backgammon table and seating for twenty-four. Enjoy stunning views of the Caribbean Sea while you dine, from which you can practically reach out and touch the pristine sands and azure sea.

BEACH ACCESS

A set of stairs leads you from the outdoor dining pavilion down to the stunning Pink Sands Beach, where sun chairs and umbrellas are set up daily for your use. Sea kayaks, paddle boards, beach bikes, snorkel equipment, paddle ball, frisbee, volleyball and other ocean toys are available for your use, with a staff member always on hand to assist you and offer refreshments.  

The Experience

Harbour Island offer activities for the whole family to enjoy, both on-site and around the island. The island’s main features — including Pink Sands beach, Dunmore Town, and some of the finest restaurants in the Bahamas, such as The Landing, Queen Conch, Sip-Sip, The Dunmore and the Rock House, are an easy walk or golf cart ride from the house. The house manager can also arrange all reservations or excursions for you off the island, such as fishing, island hopping, snorkelling, diving and more. 

On the Island

Harbour Island, known locally as “Briland”, is known for its three-mile pink sand beach, pastel British-colonial cottages enveloped in bougainvillea and easy pace. 

Whether you want to spend your days exploring everything the island has to offer, or dozing in the sunshine on a private beach while island hopping, our staff will be happy to help you create your perfect experience.

Things to do

There are many activities to enjoy both on and off the island, including horseback riding, fishing, snorkelling/diving, watersports, sightseeing tours, spa, shopping, nightlife and more.

Full or half day excursions out on the boat exploring neighbouring islands, fishing, or a trip to a sandbar in the middle of the ocean, can also be arranged.
