Chateau Margui
Château Margui is the Provençal wine estate of filmmaker George Lucas, part of his Skywalker Vineyards. It lies near the village of Châteauvert in the hills of the Var, between Barjols and Brignoles, surrounded by vineyards, olive groves, orchards and ancient forest. Wine has been made here since Roman times, and a Roman chapel still stands among the estate's buildings.
The estate's organic vines produce red, white and rosé wines under the Coteaux Varois-en-Provence appellation. Its 18th-century bastide stands at the top of a raised stone staircase with views towards Aix-en-Provence.
Four houses, the Bastide, the Observatory, the Moulin and the Bergerie, offer 18 bedrooms for up to 36 guests. That makes Château Margui one of the very few places in Provence where a large family, a wedding party or a company can stay together in such style.
Fittingly for its owner, there is an 18-seat private cinema. A heated pool has a swim lane, and there is a gym, a yoga and spin studio, a games room, a meeting room for 14 and a wine tasting room and cellar.
The estate is fully staffed, led by a house management couple, and every meal is included, from cooked breakfasts and family-style lunches to three-course dinners, with homemade cakes in between. Sports coaching, massages, live music and excursions can be arranged.
