Chateau de Villette France

Château de Villette

Château de Villette stands in the countryside of Condécourt, around 40 kilometres north-west of Paris, and is one of the most celebrated private châteaux in France. Its architecture is attributed to the Mansart family and its formal gardens to the circle of Le Nôtre, the same names behind Versailles, which earned it the nickname “le petit Versailles”.

The interiors remain remarkably intact: an octagonal grand salon in white and blue with overdoor panels after Boucher, a dining room with its original carved stone buffet and wine-cooling fountains, a music room lined with boiseries, a library and a sweeping stone staircase leading to the en-suite bedrooms. Readers of Dan Brown will recognise it as a setting in The Da Vinci Code, and it has appeared in several film and television productions.

Outside, the grounds unfold in classic French parterres, with a heated pool in summer and a gym. It is around 40 minutes by car from the Champs-Élysées, making it equally suited to a private family stay, a wedding or a corporate gathering within easy reach of the capital.
