Casa Privata
Casa Privata began life as an old stone fisherman's ruin in Praiano, the quiet village between Positano and Amalfi. Carefully restored, it is now one of the most private retreats on the Amalfi Coast, with gardens that tumble down the cliff to the sea.
The grounds stretch across more than 5,000 square metres, with sculpted hedges, tranquil lawns, local and exotic plants, and organic fruit and vegetable gardens whose herbs and produce are used in the kitchen every day. There is a swimming pool, and a series of steps at the bottom of the garden leads to a private rocky seafront, reserved for guests, with sun loungers, parasols and a freshwater shower.
With just seven rooms, the villa offers an intimate stay for up to 14 guests. There are four large double rooms and two suites in the main house, plus a garden suite a few steps away. Light Mediterranean meals are prepared with seasonal ingredients from the estate.
In keeping with the drama of the coastline, the villa is reached by 120 stone steps from the road, and the reward is complete seclusion and some of the most mesmerising views on the Amalfi Coast. Positano, Amalfi and boat trips to Capri are all within easy reach.
