Amanyara

Amanyara is a secluded beachside resort situated on the northwest coast of Providenciales in the Turks and Caicos. The property’s name combines the Sanskrit-derived word for ‘peace’ with yara, the word for ‘place’ in the language of the Arawak Amerindians, one of the region’s first indigenous groups.

Contemporary in layout and design, the resort enjoys a pristine location well removed from the more developed eastern side of the island, yet is only a 25-minute drive from the international airport. Entry to the resort is through an elegant reception pavilion that opens onto a central reflection pond. Surrounded by mahogany trees, the pond is framed on one side by the Aman Essential boutique, and on the other side by the Bar and the Restaurant.

Fronted by the resort’s 50-metre main swimming pool and sundeck, the circular bar offers a dramatic soaring roof and expansive sea views. The Restaurant provides both indoor and outdoor dining settings, with sweeping views of the ocean. The menu focuses on classic Asian and modern Mediterranean dishes, with an emphasis on fresh seafood.

Amanyara presents 38 timber-shingled guest pavilions and 21 villas, tucked along the coast or situated slightly inland overlooking tranquil ponds. Pavilions have a combined bedroom and living room, and a spacious bathroom with a freestanding bathtub and rain shower. Dramatic overhanging rooflines shade terraces on three sides and these outdoor areas are accessed through large glass doors.

Replicating the resort on a more intimate scale are the 21 Amanyara villas – each located on more than half a hectare of lush terrain overlooking reflection ponds and gardens, the ocean or the beach. Each offers two to six bedroom pavilions and expansive living and dining areas surrounding an infinity-edge swimming pool. Villas are serviced by personal cooks and housekeepers.

Located on a dune above the southern end of the sweeping 800-metre white-sand beach, the beach club provides a casual dining venue throughout the day and most evenings when in season. A simple menu combines the flavours of Asia and the Mediterranean with casual beach fare. Freshly-caught grilled seafood, exquisite sushi and custom dishes from the stone hearth oven are specialities.

Beyond the beach club lies the nature discovery centre, which allows adults and children to learn more about the region’s biodiversity and offers daily complimentary snorkelling excursions. From its secluded white-sand beach to the abundant marine life of its pristine reef walls, Amanyara embraces the acclaimed Northwest Point Marine National Park, an area of 1,686 hectares that provides some of the world’s best wall and reef diving. Amanyara offers its own dive centre and runs courses for all levels. From December to March, whales can be seen on their annual migration.

Amanyara’s Aman spa covers half a hectare and offers four two-person treatment pavilions, a relaxation pavilion, spa boutique, 10-square-metre swimming pool, outdoor yoga sala and Pilates studio. The fitness centre overlooks two of the four tennis courts and features a range of cardiovascular equipment and resistance training machines.

Amanyara Resort

Amanyara’s Villas offer consummate privacy and space in natural surroundings. Generously proportioned living areas and two- to six-bedrooms are set around a black infinity pool and hardwood deck. Overlooking reflective ponds and gardens, several feature ocean views while others offer direct beach access.
