Restored Cliffside Villa Overlooking the Ligurian Sea in Zoagli, along the Coast from Portofino, Italy

Set along Liguria’s eastern Riviera, between Portofino and the Cinque Terre, the villa commands sweeping views over the Gulf of Tigullio. A meticulous restoration has safeguarded its historic character while elevating the region’s cultural legacy, offering a refined immersion in the dramatic coastal landscape that has inspired poets, romantics, and aesthetes for generations.

Built in 1928 as a tribute to love, the villa is an elegant expression of Art Deco refinement and the timeless allure of the Ligurian Riviera. Commissioned for the owner’s muse, it captures the enchantment of the Gulf of Tigullio and its Mediterranean setting.

Rising across three levels, this clifftop retreat pairs richly detailed Art Deco glamour with contemporary design. From every floor, uninterrupted views extend across the Gulf of Tigullio toward Portofino, making the deep cobalt Ligurian Sea a constant and calming presence throughout the stay.

The interiors invite guests to gather and linger among books, music, and shared meals, fostering a sense of connection and ease. Custom hand-wrought brass Rabarbaro (rhubarb leaf) lamps by Bottega Gadda, bespoke wardrobes, and Chiavari chairs, icons of the region and Italian design appear in refined variations throughout. Carrara marble from nearby quarries graces the grand staircase, evoking a sense of 20th-century romance reimagined for modern life.

The villa features five bedrooms and an independent annex. The top-floor bedroom is housed within the villa’s lookout tower, offering a queen-size bed, a full bathroom, a large picture window, and a glass-doored balcony with sweeping views. Each light-filled room includes an en suite bathroom and welcomes guests with distinctive design and breathtaking panoramas.

A dedicated dining room for twelve, a fully equipped kitchen, a generous living room, and a private gym provide an array of inviting spaces and thoughtful amenities. Surrounded by books, records, curated bars, and conversation, the villa feels like a heritage-rich home. Outside, an infinity pool appears to float above the sea, offering a serene setting for long afternoons and unhurried swims.
