Obsidian is one of Mustique’s best kept secrets. With Oliver Messel inspired, ginger-bread style architecture, it is effortlessly charming with a wonderfully warm, authentic, elegant and calming Caribbean feel.
With the traditional Caribbean feel retained by architect Alain Bouvier after an authentic remaking and extensive landscaping from Tom Stuart-Smith, this hideaway house is framed by a lily pond on one side and the sea on the other. The living room features custom wicker furniture and floor lamps by Soane Britain, with interior design by Veere Grenney.
Originally designed for famed photographer Patrick Litchfield, Obsidian features a series of airy Gazebo-style structures that feel tropical and at the same time quintessentially British. With a relaxed spirit, simple detailing and minimalist colour scheme, the house retains its original nature, albeit now a subtly upscaled and luxurious version of the original.
